Eliot Quirke is the token straight Ravenclaw

I know I'll curse this damned decision and I'll regret it the moment I fall, but I'll be making the most of a bad situation 'till my number is called.

Entry the Fourth [Sun 23 May / 11:44pm]
I've always considered myself more a winter person. Perhaps it is intrinsically tied to my affinity for the academic life and, thus, the summer has always been at odds with my primary motivating desires, but I've found over the last five (this being the sixth) years at Hogwarts that I generally don't look forward to these particular holidays. In some ways, with this term coming after so very long of a break, it feels almost as if we're cheating by leaving so soon, as if this year never really had a chance to start. It's rather frustrating.

Still, however, despite my most sincere lamentations for the term's conclusion, it shall continue through its end. I cannot slow time and thus must accept that soon enough another year shall be concluded and we shall be off to our respective homes for another series of months, once again finding ourselves isolated from one another. Some of us shall procure summer employment, some shall merely relax, others (such as myself) will work on studies for next year, but the uniting factor is that the majority of these upcoming months shall be spent alone, and I think that more than any academic love is why I detest the summer.

I'm finding myself growing rather tense in anticipation for the end of term. Do you perhaps have any ideas for working that out?

Warded Private )

[Morag]
Please, for the love of Merlin, do not ask questions.

Do you have any sort of cosmetics that I could use to conceal certain conspicuous marks on my neck that I've thus far attempted to hide through the use of scarves and similar. With warmer weather I can't get away with that trick and the stupid things aren't fading fast enough.

The coming of Spring has oft been found to mark a series of changes in life. Whether via the blossoming of romance or simply the matter of the physical changes of the natural world, humanity seems unable to escape this season completely unchanged. I cannot help but wonder at it as we press forward with our scholastic lives. Our older students will soon be departing for adulthood, our younger students growing into their places in this school. The academic life cycle is so much shorter than the macroscopic one it is placed within, it's odd to consider such an impact what we accomplish here has upon our lives outside of Hogwarts' walls.

We can only wait and see.
